Hi RH, my name is Mark Bird and as you may have noticed, I went to St Joan of Arc School also ironically 10 years later. During your time at St Joan's, you should know Mrs. Payne and Mrs Matonti. Mrs Payne retired at aged 65 in summer 1989 and Mrs Matonti retired the previous year. The reason why I am saying this is because they told me themselves when they started in the school and you will have seen the new school being opened in 1972. Mrs Payne started in 1967 and Mrs Matonti started in 1971 when they were still in their 40s. Whether they are still alive or not, I don't know. Of course I was just a toddler when the school opened. (16 months to be precise). Do you also know that the school has now been demolished because somebody set fire to it and the school was closing anyway..
