I attended High Blantyre old School between 1950 1954 before leaving for England with my parents Jim & Ellen Miller we used to live in the old buildings on Cemetery Road. I can remember sitting in the hall doing some sort of P.E. When it was announced that the King had died. The Headmaster then was a Mr Lennon and can recall a Miss or Mrs Kilpatrick and also a Miss or Mrs Russell. I was presented with books for my good work and attendance. I have many happy memories of the School and Classmates I had the strap a few times as well! I remember when the day came for me to leave, my Mother came to collect me and the teacher called me out to the front of the Class and announced Elma is leaving today for England and they all wished me well..
