"Dearly departed last year, but.....newbies!"

Unfortunately, due to a variety of factors (? but mainly a 4-lettered word beginning with F ; - a nearby competitor?!) - this much-loved browsers' paradise of a record shop closed at the end of summer 2008....

However, despite the general demise of independent record shops around the UK (especially those selling a large proportion of new product/mainly CDs), the west end of Glasgow is well-served with good 2nd hand shops dealing in mostly vinyl :::

Closest to the former Lost in Music site is PLAY IT AGAIN Records, which is just on the other side off Byres Rd. in Ruthven Lane

(opposite Hillhead Underground/Iceland shop). This shop opened about the same time Lost.. was closing & has similar stock, although it doesn't sell new CDs/music DVDs. There's 1000s of LPs/12"s etc there, with prices mostly a bit cheaper than LiM's were (& a lot of charity shops these days!)- majority of albums under a fiver in decent+ condition. Lots of £1 "lucky box" LPs & 50p 12"s/singles etc. PiA also deal in a small range of retro hi-fi + guitars/amps etc...

Further down Byres Rd. there's a specialist Oxfam Music shop which has been around a good few years now - prices a bit higher than yer average 'general' charity shop, but much better selection/organization & quality control(well, hopefully!) as you'd expect...

That's before hitting the good ole "Golden Mile" (ahem!) of charity shops that pepper Dumbarton Rd. from the east-west ends of Partick, where the 'Pot Luck' hunt/caper/chore really takes over -- unless you totally thrive on endless James Last/Spice Girls albums, Westlife CDsingles, or Uncle Bloke's home-made type pub-rock/busking/would-be-rapper demo CDs

etc!
