I grew up in this house. As you look at the front of the building, the windows to the upper right are the windows of my bedroom. I was brought to this house in June 1958 as a 2 year old child and lived there until I moved to London in 1982. I watched and 'helped' my father chisel through 3 foot thick sandstone walls to make the window of the kitchen. I used to close over the old wooden shutters on the box sash windows during winter to help keep out the cold before they were replaced with new double glazed windows in the mid 70's. Below the scullery at the back of the house is where the oil fired boiler was housed to provide central heating for my brothers and sister as we grew up. I used to play in the back garden and regularly got an upset stomach from eating the 'Crab Apples' off one of the 5 apple trees in the garden. I still bear the scar of 5 stitches on the crown of my head from the plank of wood that fell from the tree-house half way up the largest of the trees. I tried to shake the tree because my older brother would not let me climb the tree and join him in the tree-house. I used to play football with my pals in the garden and regularly had to climb over the wall into Miss Malone's garden to retrieve our ball. Before the garage was built, i would cycle all the way around the house on my little Raleigh Explorer bike as my older brother and I had constructed an 'obsticle course' . I now live in Australia but have 'Googled' the house to see what changes have taken place. The only change I can see is that the old church at the bottom of the hill has gone. I have many old photographs of 94 Drumover Drive and will load some into the site profile.
