"Wouldn’t let us leave until we signed that we were happy, which we were no"

This is the first Google review I have ever written and feel compelled to share my awful experience at this store with other people. Where do I even begin?! My daughter bought her dress from this store, and was given her measurements and advised/recommended by by the girls that she was a size “9”. Given that was the recommended size, my daughter obviously agreed ( she is usually a size 8) given they are the experts. Six months later, her dress arrives in store. Upon trying it on, it is evident the dress is far too tight. My daughter expressed to the girls in the store that it was two tight and they insisted it was fine. My daughter again insisted it was too tight and that she could not breathe in it. The girls redid my daughters measurements and at first, said she had put on two inches around the bust and that is why it was too tight. Given my daughter has not put on any weight, this would be impossible and I explained that she had clearly been incorrectly measured initially. Another girl then measured her again and said that she had only gained 0.5inches around her bust and that “everyone measures people differently” - so this is now clear that she has been incorrectly measured from the outset. They also then tried to justify this by saying their recommended size guide was simply a “recommendation” and that my daughter could have asked for a different size. This is nonsensical. Of course my daughter would agree to order the dress in the size that they recommended.

As we weren’t sure If a seamstress could fix it, we asked for a seamstress near by to come and see if she could assist. On arrival, she luckily confirmed that she could help (at the cost Of £500!).

As If the experience at eleganza wasn’t bad enough, when we went to leave the store with the dress, the manager asked us to sign a “disclaimer” form confining we were happy with the dress. Given we were not happy with the dress, my daughter who is a lawyer refused to sign it and their response was “ oh well we can’t let you leave the building with the dress”, despite me having paid for this in full and therefore being my property!Luckily the dress had been taken out the store by the seamstress and as such, they could not prevent us from taking the dress off the premises.I now understand why this store only has glowing reviews - because they make people sign disclaimers! I am absolutely shocked by their customer service and the fact I’ve now had to pay an additional £500 on tailoring when it is obvious this is the mess up of eleganza. I would strongly advise people to go elsewhere for their wedding dresses..
