"Imagine my Surprise"

Imagine my surprise to find this site. I was watching West Side Story and the name Lindella came into my mind when I saw the jivers. I I used to go to the Lindella to listen to trad jazz. But it was really the jiving I remember best. After learning basics at Johnny Wilsons south of the Gorbals, I graduated to the Lindella and was in the team with George Leslie and Mary. My partner was Jean Casey. The other couple were a tall pair who were engaged. I think his name was George Noble but I forget his partners name We did a few paid gigs but the big one was a week at the Metropole. I was in my 5th year at John Street Secondary School doing my highers. All my mates were impressed but not my faither and mither. End of dancing career in 1958. Now eighty and working in Thailand..
