It’s funny that I’m getting old but still can’t forget my years in victoria primary, and my years growing up in Jamieson street. I think it’s a place that’s forever etched in our minds. I loved the old Govanhill, and then people used to say Jamieson street was the posh street in Govanhill.

Our youth was about being to be grateful for the things we were taught by our teachers and our parents. We put our trust in those around us and we’re grateful for what we had, my Mum used to go down to the wash house in the back to light the fire to heat the water for her Monday washing at 6am in the morning.

I’ve always been proud of my life there until I got married at 24 years old, and was always grateful for the things that were instilled in us from an age
