A smallish portfolio worth £24,000 plunged to £12,000 circa the credit crunch and remained at that level without movement until I was turfed out courteously this year with a smile and a cheque for £12,000. Royal Mail passed by without a whisper. I should have moved elsewhere but you always live in hope and trust, don't you?..
