"M8 KNIGHT OF THE ROAD"

A review of Strathclyde Police by Helen Milligan - Monday 15th of November 2010

On 27th October, on my way to a hospital appointment, our car broke down on the M8 near Cathedral exit. It was a very wet day and we were unable to push the car off the carriageway. We phoned our breakdown recovery service but felt very vulnerable waiting beside the car on such a busy road. However help arrived in the form of Jim, I think his number was T198, a motorway police patrol man. He took command immediately and would not allow us to do anything. He lay on the wet road to attach a tow rope to our car and towed us into a layby for safety. When he heard I had a hospital appointment he volunteered to take me there while my husband waited with the car for the recovery vehicle. I arrived at the Beatson in plenty of time for my check up and cannot thank Jim enough for his help that day.
In view of the fact that police get some bad press I felt that I had to highlight how helpful they can be and give them a pat on the back. Thank you Jim, you proved to be a star that day.
