"Do you remember the Shoe Laces?"

A review of Cardonald Primary School by Jan Thain - Friday 25th of May 2007

I was Jan Thain and started at Angus Oval School in September 1944. I well remember Miss Boyd, Miss McGlashan, Miss Espie and Miss Latimer (wasn't she the one who kept her stockings up with a shoe lace tied just below the knee?). Mrs Neill lived round the corner from us and had a collie with different coloured eyes! I also had a very happy time there, but have always wondered why we weren't allowed to play on the grass - it was cut regularly by a man wielding a scythe but we were not allowed through the fence.

I went on to Cardonald School and was taught by Miss Keene and Mr McLean before going on to Bellahouston Academy. I now live in Australia.
