"Angus Ovel during the war!"

A review of Cardonald Primary School by Jack Macadam - Sunday 4th of March 2007

I attended Angus Oval Primary School from 1940 until 1946. I was interested to read that another reviewer mentioned Miss McGlashen. The headmistress was Miss Boyd and there was a headmaster Mr.Craig. Teachers I remember were Miss. Husband, Mrs. Espie, Miss Scott and the janitor was Mrs. Neill. The janitor could not use the school bell because of wartime restrictions so she had to walk along the veranda and tap each door with her keys to let us know it was playtime, or lunchtime or end of school for the day. Many happy memories of a very happy school. After my time there I went to Cardonald Junior School on Paisley Road West and then Bellahouston Senior Secondary until I left in 1950.
