This would have been back in around 1958 I would have been about 10 I think the priest was Father Martin. My mam gave me a wee (empty) quarter whisky bottle (Label removed) to fill up with Holy Water. Well you had to go up to the font at the back of the chapel I can remember it was a big large font, you had to put the bottle down into it and it would make a real Blub Blub Blub sound much to the hilarity of my pal Margaret and I. The looks from the old ladies in prayer was one of distain, so we had to put in get as much as we could without making too mch noise then top it up with water from the burn accross levernside which was a slight orange colour.
It happens my dad liked a wee dram and spotted this bottle (No label mind you, and had already had a few) and thinking it was a nice wee sneeky dram had a swig, much to his horror drank the sewerage water from the levernside burn.
Mum said it was the holy water mixed with it that saved him from death, and we didn't get into trouble she thought it was a good lesson for him.
