"Data Protection breach?"

A review of Dunnes Stores by Mary dunn - Wednesday 31st of January 2007

Dunnes Store at Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow seem to collect customer names and address. I returned a garment of clothing to this store on Wednesday 31 January, 2007 and received a full refund. The sales assistant then requested that I write my name and address on the receipt, which I did. I felt uncomfortable about this and asked her why I had to provide the company with my personal details. She replied that she didn't know but that my details would be forwarded on to the company head office.

Is this not in breach of the Data Protection Act, 1998?
