Yesterday I asked about some (late) copies previously ordered for a television broadcast. The assistant knew nothing about their progress but said she was too busy to telephone Susan, who had initially dealt with the order. There was one other customer in the shop at the time.
The overriding message was 'Don't know; don't care'.
This morning when I entered the shop a bell alerted staff to my presence. I was left standing at the counter for an uncomfortable time during which the same young assistant (who sat side on to me) thumbed her mobile phone. Another staff member served me.
There are many courses out there offering tuition in customer care and service.
Purple Edge would do very well to send the assistant mentioned on such a course. It is bad for business for customers to experience what I did..
