I was born in St Francis in 1952. Dr. Francis O'Reilly delivered me. Dr. O'Reilly was also my GP as I came from Cambuslang and that was where his practice was. I know the women paid to go into St. Francis, however, I understand this was minimal amount. I was born on a Sunday and my mother did not get out of hospital until the following Sunday. In those days it was expected that a child should be baptised as soon as possible after birth. In order to fulfill this my mother had the Christening robe brought in and the nuns dressed me for my baptism and I was taken from St Francis direct to St. Brides RC Church Cambuslang for baptism..
