" Childhood Memories of School"

A review of Mosspark Primary School by Elizabeth Smith written on Tuesday 20th of August 2013

I joined Mosspark Primary in August 1951 having left Elder Park Primary when our family moved from Linthouse to Corkerhill Place. I recall very vividly Mr Adamson , the Head Master , who was very much thought of & remember the day he retired from School - quite a sad day for all as he was the most wonderful Head Master - very caring & great with children.

I remenber Miss Lindsay, Mrs Sibbald , Mrs Flett who took our class for knitting & sewing, Mrs McFadgen who was a wonderful story teller on a Friday afternoon but only if we had been good during the week. My two favourite teachers were Mrs Kirkwood & Miss Ray who as well as being our class teacher also took us for Country Dancing & I am proud to say that I was in the Country Dancing Team . I also have memories of the month we spent at Abington School Camp in June 1955 before breaking up for the summer holidays & also leaving Mosspark to go to High School.

I went to Pollokshields Senior Secondary until leaving at the end of third year in June 1959. I attended the High School Re-union in Pollokshields Borough Hall a few years ago & saw some of my former school mates.

It would be good to see some replies of former class mates.
